The most valuable item is the carriage clock. It is not easy determine the value of this or to see any detail from just the one picture. It is a French instrument (most are), with an hour-repeating chime (the button to make it ring again can be seen). The chamfered glazing and deep chasing on the brass also give a good idea of its antique value. Values vary from around one hundred pounds, but some of the more collectable (English) clocks can fetch four figures. There are several other items amongst the pictures which might raise cash-rich hopes. The jokers in the pack are the black choker, with an “ivory carving” glued onto it is, which is, probably, plastic. (The overflow of glue suggests this, but it might possibly be a clumsy repair job on a valuable piece.) The other fraud is the “rose-gold watch chain”. No jeweller would ever make such an item with a T-bar of bent wire - which is about the only clue that can be obtained from looking at the picture. It is made of copper, value only a few pence. (The best gold chains have a hallmark on every link.) Several other items in the photographs are quite precious, and some of the silver has rarity and collectable value. The hallmarks and overall condition can provide an expert such as Neville with further information on that score. He will allow for this. it may increase the item’s value above that of the “bullion rate”. Some of your treasures might realize more cash for you than you might expect! Give Neville a phone call - you might get a pleasant surprise!
